Sleep in Fourvière, the old town (Vieux Lyon) :
The Romans founded Lyon or Lugdunum in 43 BC. J-C on the hill of Fourviere.
Many vestiges attest to their ancient presence: the Theatre et l’Odeon Antiques, the sanctuary of Cybele …
Great views over the city. A bourgeois district, frequented during the day, quiet in the evening.
The rents are relatively high but one feels a great peace of mind when walking the paths of the Parc des Hauteurs or visiting the religious monuments: Notre-Dame-de-Fourviere basilica, Saint-Thomas chapel, Saint-Just church …
Tenants who opt for this area often appreciate the calm and the setting. Thus, Urban Sejour often rents out self-catering apartments in this district to families or professionals working in the north of Lyon. The different options can be a seasonal contract, or a mobility lease for mid-term and long-term stays.

Sleep in Lyon’s peninsula (Presqu’ile)
The Presqu’ile is a strip of land between the Saone and Rhone rivers, and embodies Lyon’s cultural identity.
The area covers the 1st and 2nd districts and reaches from the slopes of the Croix-Rousse district (pentes de la Croix-Rousse) to the Ainay district, the aristocratic and bourgeois Lyon, and to Perrache station.
The attractions of the peninsula: Place Bellecour, Place des Jacobins, the Carre d’Or shops, Opera, Place des Terreaux, Place des Cordeliers, Hotel de Ville, Place des Celestins, the shops on rue de la Republique and rue Victor Hugo, the Saint-Nizier church, and the many bars and restaurants.
Please note: this is a rather stilted area, where accommodations will be costly.
The Presqu’ile is often preferred by Urban Sejour’s tenants for its chic and prestigious character, but also for its central and therefore practical location. Professionals from all fields rent lodgings there for business stays. Urban Sejour also offers accommodations in this district and other districts, for yearly rental.
Sleep in Lyon 7: the University district, Jean Mace, Gerland, Guillotiere
A cosmopolitan, central, student and popular district at the same time.
Guillotiere is located on the banks of the Rhone river, which hosts 2 large university campuses, pedestrian and cyclist walks on the quays, barges and their bars, art galleries, concert bars and African and Asian grocery stores.
A popular area where it will be cheaper to stay than elsewhere in the city center.
Students regularly book apartments for the several weeks, months or even a year in this district. Companies also book accommodations in Lyon 7 for their employees, especially if the workplace is located in Lyon 3, 7 or 8.
Sleep in the Terreaux and Croix-Rousse districts
The Place des Terreaux, located on the Presqu’ile between the Saone and the Rhone rivers, is at the starting point of the slopes of Croix-Rousse (the famous “pentes de la Croix-Rousse”). This giant square dates from 1625. Particularly impressive at night, the large Bartholdi fountain is illuminated at sunset, as are the sumptuous buildings around the square: the Town Hall and the Museum of Fine Arts (Musee des Beaux-arts). A few steps away is the Opera de Lyon as well. But the Terreaux district is also a residential area, with all the necessary shops, as well as many modern and fun cafes and restaurants. This makes it an ideal place for a temporary stay in Lyon.
The pentes de la Croix-Rousse: a small, lively and picturesque village in the center of Lyon.
The party district with alternative bars, arts and concerts and a character inherited from the Canuts revolts of the 19th century. Indeed, there are many small shops of artists and independent designers, cafe-theatres …
A lively atmosphere at day and night.
One of the best areas to stay if you are young and like to party.
For a slightly quieter stay: the Plateau de la Croix-Rousse, with the famous Croix-Rousse market.
Because of the HCL hospital, health professionals (doctors, nurses, midwives, trainees, etc.) might find it convenient to rent apartments in Croix-Rousse, for a professional mission, or training, of short, medium or long term.
