One of the possibilities within temporary rental is monthly rental. You may have different reasons for chosing to rent an apartment by the month in Lyon.
One of the most common motivations for monthly rental is professional mobility. Some companies search for hotel apartments (appart hotel or appart’hotel in French), to rent for their employees who are on business trips in Lyon.
Other causes for monthly rental or mid-term rental could be personal, for example family stays. Thus, many residents of Lyon are looking to buy a flat and chose to rent an apartment monthly, as a temporary solution.

Monthly rental – which options do we offer ?
The vast majority of the apartments offered by Urban Sejour can be booked for monthly rental. By the way, our flats are regularly booked for 6-month stays or longer.
Seasonal rental allows to edit a temporary contract up to 90 nights at most. Therefore, seasonal rental doesn’t include monthly rental that exceeds 3 months of stay. Also, some co-ownerships refuse seasonal rental within their building. This can compel the affected owners to offer their furnished apartment for monthly rental : for one month minimum. For this type of booking, a specific contract is applied (the bail mobilite).
According the the law ELAN of 2018, this contract can be edited for stays lasting from one month to ten months. The contract can only be edited for a furnished apartment, and only for a professional reason (for example a training, an internship, a transfer, a relocation, a temporary mission and so on).
The length of the contract can be modified one single time by adding an amendment. For instance, a 6-month contract can be changed to be a stay of 10 months.
However, the total duration of the contrat must be of 10 months maximum, non-renewable. Because this type of contract cannot be renewed after a 10-month booking, a primary or secondary residence contract can be edited afterwards for a long-term stay, if the conditions for this are fulfilled.
For monthly rentals, mid-term or long-term stays, the charges are paid in lump sums by the tenant to the owner. With Urban Sejour, all charges such as the consumption of water, gas, electricity, heating, Internet connection … are included in the rent price. Generally, when booking an apartment by the month, the amount to pay for charges and the frequency of payment are mentioned in the contract. Also, the tenant can ask the owner to send him/her payment receipts.
One aspect of monthly rental that doesn’t exist in seasonal rental is the one-month notice. Actually, in the case of monthly rental, the contract can be cancelled by the tenant at any given time, if the tenant respects the one-month duration of the prior notice.
The commonly accepted modalities for cancelling a monthly rental contract are : a registered letter with an acknowledgement of receipt, a letter that is handed in by the tenant in person, or a bailiff’s order. With Urban Sejour, an email will be sufficient to confirm the cancellation.
